Veterans are flown to see their memorials free of charge because of generous donations by indivduals, busnesses and organizations. Top priority is given to World War II Veterans, and Veterans of all wars with a terminal illness. Honor Flight Dayton is currently taking applications from WWII, Korean and Vietnam veterans. If on a particular flight Honor Flight Dayton has seats available after WWII Veterans are booked, then Korean Veterans are taken on a first come basis; again with the top priority given to WWII Veterans.
Guardians fly with the Veterans on their trip to the memorials. Guardians provide assistance and help to all of the Veterans to make sure their trip is as safe and enjoyable as possible. Guardians pay their own way to have the honor and privilege of escorting the Veterans. Starting in 2017, due to significantly higher airline costs, Honor Flight Dayton must raise the guardian donation to $450.
All flights go out of the Dayton International Airport.
